Search Engine Optimization Is Not For Everyone

Why do some companies rank on Google extremely well and some don't? It simply boils down to being consistent. Publishing a few articles and acquiring some links won't necessarily put you at the top. But if you do it every month the way we are about to explain it in this article you will!
First, you need to develop a consistent habit of publishing quality content, then you'll have to convince other blogs in your target market to link to your articles as a reference source that will help to validate their own point on their blog piece.
If you do what we are about to explain in the article every month, you will become an authority in your niche and your search traffic will look something like this...
The picture above represents the search traffic increase in the past two years of one of our clients. Search traffic increased from 4k/month to nearly 40k/month in two years. Not too bad.
So how exactly do you become an authority & increase your search traffic?
There are two main ingredients:
- High-quality content
- Authoritative backlinks from niche websites
You need to consistently push quality articles that your audience wants to read. The only way to do that is by researching and knowing what your audience is looking for on Google.
Some of the content research tools we like to use are:
- Google Trends
Use google trends to see the search trajectory of your topics. This is also a good way to find out if your content is better suited for specific seasons and time of year.
- Answer The Public
One of the best ways to get content ideas, simply enter your general keyword and they will spit out many content titles you could use for your articles.
- SEMRush (best one but required a paid subscription)
Getting your content ideas using SEMRush
Let's breakdown, step by step how to get really good content ideas for your weekly content development strategy.
Once you log in to your SEMRush account select "Content Marketing Toolkit" from the dropdown on the top right.
Enter a keyword that defines the general topic you which to write for. For our purposes, we will use "content writing for SEO"
Once you hit the "Get content ideas" button, SEMRush will give you a list of cards with titles. These titles are essentially subtopics. Expand the one that you wish to write about.
Select the question or headline you wish to write about. The headlines listed are the current articles ranking well on Google. These are articles that other websites have already written about and have ranked well. We suggest taking a similar approach when structuring your blog headlines. Use the questions list to understand what users need answers to when searching on Google.
After having this data, you will have to put together a list of topics and load up your content development workflow for the month.
You just published your articles now what?
Google will know that you published your articles, but they won't necessarily know how good they are. Remember that they use algorithms to rank pages on their search engine.
Time to build some backlinks
Assuming your website has minimal to no errors, your title tags and descriptions tags are in place, and you don't have any weird redirects, they will mainly be looking for backlinks from other websites. Links from other authoritative sites indicate to the Google crawlers & algorithm that your content is important and readers looking for information on the topic should have the opportunity to find you.
However, sites linking to you will also need to be well established and be authoritative themselves for their links to carry some weight.
If you can accomplish at least 5 outreach links per month while pushing out 1-2 articles with over one thousand words each that captivate your audience's interest, then you will be in good shape.
Your traffic will naturally start increasing, and over time your website will start to generate links naturally without having to constantly reach out to bloggers in your niche. Other websites will find you and naturally reference you.
This is what it's all about, becoming an authority in your niche so others will reference you without any pushbacks.
Does it sound like a lot of work?
Yes, it is. This is why we created our entire business around it. Once our clients realize how difficult and time consuming it is to do quality SEO work day in and day out, that's when they begin to really see the value of our services.
The good news is that since we are mainly targeting agencies, our prices have to be below market in order for it to make sense for agencies and consultants.
Business & website owners have subscribed to our managed SEO services in order to bypass the price hike of hiring a marketing agency.
Our team is proud to say that we have never had a client penalized, the reason being that our SEO strategies are simple and natural.
There are no sketchy black-hat tactics or fast results that won't last. Search engine optimization is simple, but it does involve a degree of time-consuming work.
